Morning Pickup from Malang & Scenic Drive to Probolinggo
Your journey begins with hotel pickup in Malang at approximately 09:00 Enjoy a comfortable drive of around 3–4 hours toward Cemara Lawang village via Probolinggo, gradually ascending into East Java’s mountainous landscapes. Along the way, admire changing scenery from urban areas to rural villages and volcanic highlands.
Visit Madakaripura Waterfall
After about two hours on the road, stop to stretch your legs and explore the legendary Madakaripura Waterfall. Known as one of Indonesia’s tallest waterfalls, this sacred site holds deep spiritual significance for the Tenggerese community. Walk through narrow canyon walls and feel the refreshing mist as water cascades dramatically from towering cliffs, creating a peaceful and immersive nature experience.
Continue to Cemara Lawang Village
Meet your driver again and continue toward Cemara Lawang, the gateway village to Mount Bromo. Take time to explore the surrounding area, walk through nearby farmland, and enjoy panoramic views of the Tengger caldera.
Sunset Experience at Mount Bromo Area
As the afternoon fades, choose your preferred spot to witness sunset over the volcanic landscape. Watch the sky change colors above Mount Bromo and Mount Batok while enjoying the cool mountain atmosphere. Overnight in Bromo area.
Early Morning Jeep Ride to Sunrise Viewpoint
At around 03:00, your 4WD jeep is ready to take you to Pananjakan, one of the highest viewpoints in the Bromo area at approximately 2,702 meters above sea level. Weather permitting, witness dramatic sunrise colors illuminating Mount Bromo, Mount Batok, and Mount Semeru in the distance.
Explore Sea of Sand & Hindu Luhur Poten Temple
After sunrise, descend by jeep into the vast Sea of Sand, a surreal grey volcanic plain stretching across the caldera. Pass by the Hindu Luhur Poten Temple, a unique place of worship for the Tenggerese people, where you can stop briefly to observe its architecture and spiritual atmosphere.
Hike to Mount Bromo Crater
Continue toward the base of Mount Bromo and hike approximately 45 minutes to reach the crater rim. From the top, take in sweeping views of the active volcano and surrounding landscapes while feeling the rumble of nature beneath your feet.
Return to Hotel, Breakfast & Check-Out
Meet your driver and return to the hotel. Enjoy breakfast and a refreshing shower before checking out.
Overland Journey to Bondowoso
Begin your scenic drive toward Bondowoso, the closest city to Mount Ijen. Travel through plantations, mountain roads, and local towns before arriving in Bondowoso in the afternoon. Overnight in Bondowoso.
Early Morning Transfer to Paltuding
Depart early from Bondowoso for Paltuding, the starting point of your Mount Ijen trek. After a short briefing, prepare for your hike.
Guided Hike to Ijen Crater Lake
Begin a guided walk of approximately 1.5 hours to reach the crater rim. Along the trail, encounter traditional sulfur miners carrying bamboo baskets weighing up to 100 kilograms. At the top, admire the stunning turquoise crater lake and volcanic surroundings.
Descent & Sulfur Weighing Area Visit
After descending, visit the sulfur weighing station behind the parking area, where miners unload and sell their sulfur harvest.
Coffee Break & Transfer to Ketapang Harbor
Enjoy a light snack and coffee before continuing your journey toward Ketapang Harbor. On the way, stop at a local coffee plantation and waterfall in Licin village for a short exploration.
Arrival at Ketapang & Ferry to Bali
Arrive at Ketapang Harbor and take the ferry to Bali. Tour ends at Ketapang.
